What kind of education and experience does Toni have? I graduated cum laude, receiving my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Advertising Design with an emphasis in illustration. Why does Toni not show her work in a gallery? I prefer working directly with my clients. A portrait is a very personal gift, the more I know about my clients and their loved ones the more creative I can be. Galleries take 20% - 50% from each sale, so I would have to raise my prices by this amount or lose money. In the future, I may sell my art in a gallery, however, I would rather sell directly to my clients to keep prices affordable, and so I can get to know them better. |

Why does Toni prefer to use pencil as her medium? I have loved to draw since early childhood. Drawing is the basis of all art. I draw mostly in pencil because I like the dramatic, soft and elegant style I can achieve. Pencil can also be reproduced more economically than color. Changes can be easily made so it is easier to guarantee the likeness, over other mediums. Tinting with color pencil or pastels sometimes adds just the right touch, but I prefer to use color sparingly. E-mail me for additional information regarding color tinting. |

Do you draw from photos or do I need to sit for a portrait? No sitting is required. I can draw from any number of photographs and combine the best into one drawing or draw each person separately. I can make adjustments from the photographs if there is something you do not like in the photos. For example I can eliminate eye glasses, dental braces, double chins, facial lines and imperfections. I can add more hair, brighten your eyes and smile, while still maintaining a strong likeness. I have artistic license to do whatever you want! |

What if I don't have a good photograph? If you live in the Boise area, I have a digital camera and can take the photos for a small fee. You can view them instantly and choose which one you would like to have drawn. You can take new photos or have a professional take them for you. (See photography tips) |

Why should I have a portrait drawn when I have a photo? Professional photography costs much more than what I charge for custom original art. Original art is more life-like and flattering than a photograph. Strong emotions will surface when viewing your portrait! I will need your photographs to complete the drawing since I do not require a sitting. It is hard to get great photos of each person in a group. I can combine the best image of each person into one great drawing. I also can draw any size you want and add special backgrounds, poems and scriptures, creating a very personal one-of-a kind portrait. |

How do you determine your prices? The artist's experience, training, awards, and quality of work are considered. You are paying for the artist's time so detail and number of images are major factors in the price. Portraiture is difficult, time-consuming and custom work costs more because it is created just for you. |

|
What can I do if I don't like my portrait? In my ten years as a professional artist I have never had a commission rejected. It is possible to make changes to the drawing until you are happy with it, whether you live near or far away! See portrait Guarantee page for more information. |

|
Can I have prints made of my portrait for gifts to others? Yes, I can make high quality prints in many sizes and quantities. The price depends on the size and quantity you order. E-mail me for price quotes. It is illegal for anyone other than the artist to copy, print or photograph my art. When you purchase art you are paying for the original, not the right to copy it.
