Hiring Toni For Commissioned Work

Step 1.  Phone Consult
Discuss with Toni what type of work you are interested in having Toni create for you.  This is a time to brain storm ideas and decided if you want a head shot, full body, collage, etc. This is also the time you will choose the size, number of images and if photography is needed.

Step 2.   Photo Viewing 
Meet Toni to view the photos, or E-mail them to her.  If necessary Toni will take photographs for your drawing. If the pet has passed on Toni can use reference books to recreate a likeness of your pet if there are no good photos available.

Step 3. Price Quote
After determining the work needed i.e., time, labor, and costs, Toni will quote a price and make any recommendations deemed necessary.

Step 4.   Deposit Required
A deposit of 50% or an agreed upon amount is needed to begin the drawing.  Toni will accept  cash or checks. Toni can also invoice you through paypal to begin the project.  Sometimes Toni will invoice for the entire amount upfront depending on the situation, i.e., time, smaller jobs etc.  When the drawing is completed, Toni will generally frame the drawing as a courtesy so the drawing is protected. It also allows Toni to  show the client what it will look like displayed.   You are not required to purchase the frame.  You have the option to buy it if you like it.   Frames generally cost $50-$150 depending on the size and are generally 1/2 the cost of custom framing.

If you are satisfied with everything the balance is due at this time.

If you want changes, Toni will work on the drawing for another hour at no charge to make minor changes.

After the first hour there will be a $30 an hour rate fee.  If Toni has to work with an inferior photo it may create additional time to finish the drawing.  The artist can improve an image, above inferior photography but is paid additionally for the extra time to do so.

Once the drawing is approved, either in person, or through an e-mail photo of the drawing for out of state clients, then the client will pay the balance in person with a check, cash, or through a paypal invoice.   This invoice will have to be paid in full before receiving the finished drawing.  If you want to see the project first, then Toni will E-mail a photo of it on request.

Step 5. Delivery
 If you are local, you may pick up the drawing, or have Toni deliver it.   If you live out of the area then payment for shipping and handling will be required.  Approximate shipping amounts are $10 unframed, and approximately $25 if framed. This includes insurance. These are approximations and can be higher depending on the size of the work.

Step 6. Make It Famous!
Toni has an exciting new option for her clients.  Clients drawings can now be put on Toni's Online Store so you or family members can order items with the image on the item.   If there are no purchases of the products within a reasonable time, the artist may choose to remove the image without notice at anytime.  If the client requests the image to be added back after it has been removed, due to inactivity, there will be a fee to do so.   This fee will be determined at that time.   It takes about 10 hours to add an image to the cart and size it for each product.  

Toni may add the  image she creates for you even if you don’t plan to purchasing additional items.  This is done at her discretion, as a portfolio sample. 

Copyrights

The copyrights for any Artistic Creation created by Toni McMillian and Tonidraws.com belong to the artist.   You are paying for the display and use of the original product only. Toni will only add individuals portraits to the shopping cart, with their permission, due to privacy issues.  The artist is free to add a pet or other subjects to the cart without permission, as she holds the copyrights.   No products are available to the client for resale without the artist's permission.  If you want your logo, name of business, name of pet, extra text or phone number, etc added to the image, that appears on the cart,  the artist may charge a fee for this service.  Please specify this requirement when placing your initial request prior to it being added to the cart.

Remember when you purchase any art form, artwork, music, professional photography, books, etc.  you are purchasing the rights to enjoy that work purchased, not profit from it. Even when you pay for the artwork’s creation, or provide photos for example of your pet, the image created is for your enjoyment, however the copyright of this image and right to profit belongs to the artist.  These copyrights are intrinsic to the artists livelihood. Special Pricing

Some clients may receive a special price for their products, due to nonprofit status or special agreements, and trades with the artists.

Step 7. Original Documents
If you gave Toni photos, books, negatives, or any items to help create the drawing or painting you have chosen, they will be returned only after payment is received in full for the artwork.

Policies

ALL SALES ARE FINAL, no refunds, no cancellations accepted.   The artist may use the image for exhibitions, marketing, advertising brochures, and reproductions, and on the shopping cart. Artist will gain permission if the drawing is of a person, for privacy reasons.  The client will pay all fees, court costs resulting in breech of contract, including verbal agreements.  The client is responsible for insufficient check fees, late fees and failure to pay the artist which are no fault of the artist.

NSF checks will be charged $25 and the artist may add an additional $25 monthly late fee for nonpayment of artwork that is not picked up beyond the agreed deadline, until payment is received in full

Portrait pricing

Typically custom portraits, whether people or pets are sized from 8 x 10 or 11 x 14.  The range for an 8 x 10 is $150-$275.  The range for 11 x 14 is $275-$500.  Other sizes and prices are available.

The price may be more if the animal is especially difficult to draw.  An example of pets that are difficult to draw include Basenjis, Poodles, Pugs and Bulldogs.  Toni will charge less if the drawing is less detailed. Special spotting and coloring will sometimes take longer to draw as well.

Many sizes are available, so the price may decrease for smaller images or up for larger ones, including custom backgrounds, additional poems, scriptures, etc.  Price and terms sometimes change due to show specials and special promotions.

Photography

When it is necessary for Toni to take the photograph for the drawings, photography fees run approximately $25 if the client comes to Toni’s studio.  If Toni has to meet you at your home or another location the price is $50. An additional $5 per additional subject will be charged, plus $5 for each print Toni needs to do the drawing. 

 Framing

Framing ranges from $50 to $150 but always depends on size and style. Framing is not included in the  price of drawing and is optional.    Toni will do a simple framing for the initial viewing by the client.  You will have the option at that time to opt for the framing or go without.
